Lake Toba is one of the biggest lakes in the world, and in Indonesia it is the largest and most popular. This volcanic lake spans 100 X 30 km, and in the middle of it there is a volcanic island named Samosir Island which stands at a height of 1000 meters above sea level.
Lake Toba stretches across 3 districts – Simalungun, Parapat and Ambarita – in north Sumatra, Indonesia.
The beauty and vastness of Lake Toba is indeed impressive, and as it is surrounded by a mountainous range, the atmosphere here is cool and the air crisp and refreshing. You can soak up its splendour either by the lakeside, jumping in the crystal clear waters for a dip or by renting a motor boat for a tour of the lake. In the evenings, sit back and bask in the glow of the gorgeous sunsets reflected off the surface of the lake, creating a truly stunning panorama.
To reach this tourist destination, you can either take the Medan-Parapat or Medan-Berastagi route which covers a distance of 176 km and takes approximately 4 hours by land.

Finally ended after almost 1 month of competition. Team Niviuk Indonesia has done very well in the national olympics, dominating the top placings in almost every event .
There was a league competition for accuracy held from 30 May to 1 June 2008 and the winner of the womens category was pilot Ming, who was flying the Niviuk Peak.
